EVENTS:

AHA Cowboy Academy
Come Celebrate the 6 Year Anniversary at the V6 Ranch! All Breeds Welcome!

The AHA Cowboy Academy will be held on the majestic grounds of the V6 Ranch in Parkfield, California. The V6 Ranch is nestled in the Cholame Valley, on 20,000 acres in the middle of the picturesque Diablo Mountain Range, half-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. This ride on the renowned Varian family ranch offers riders a true western working ranch experience, at the rider's pace, within the beauty of Central California mountains. Music and stories will highlight the event, for a full and fun experience. Guests will have trail time as well as the opportunity to work cattle, all while camping outside with their horses and friends. This adds up to an experience reminiscent of a time long ago, but never to be forgotten.

Join legendary breeder Sheila Varian for a true working ranch experience!

Sheila Varian is a renowned Arabian Breeder and Trainer, who we are proud to have as our clinician for this event. Enjoy Sheila's clinics as she shares her vast experience and knowledge about working with horses. Also take pleasure in riding next to Sheila for some one-on-one attention. Visit the website at: www.varianarabians.com

Accommodations:
The V6 Ranch offers a spacious campground setting nestled in beautiful oak trees. Travel trailers, campers and tents are acceptable. RV patrons may use generators. Electricity is available at the common area of the camp for all riders' use. The campground features shower and bathroom facilities with hot and cold running water. Participants must provide their own sleeping quarters, unless a bunkhouse rental is booked separately (contact Kathleen Green for more information about the bunkhouse). There are 30 water hook-ups available on a first come, first served basis.

The Parkfield Inn:
located about 2 miles from camp, has 8 rooms available. Call 805-463-2421 to reserve.

Horse Facilities:
The V6 Ranch will be offering 45 - 10' x 15' portable pipe corrals for horses. Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to reserve one. Participants can also bring their own portable corrals, or horses can be trailer tied or high lined between trees. Hay will be available for purchase but it is recommended that you bring your own.

Fee Includes:
The fee includes: camping, all meals, clinics, activities, as well as a limited number of horse corrals (by reservation). The V6 Ranch will serve a delicious home cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, as well as beer and wine at special dinners. Meals may be served during rides, in camp, or on the trail.

Weather:
April is generally mild. California has some very warm afternoons (possibly in the high 70's), accompanied by some cool nights (down to the chilly 30's). However, weather conditions can be unpredictable, so be sure to prepare for all types of conditions. We suggest you bring a warm jacket, gloves and a fleece pullover so you are prepared for any sudden weather change. You may want to bring a light blanket for your horse as well.
